Isaac is the son of Jewish parents Betty “Betsy” Lee (née Seff) and Irwin Isaacson, Walter Seff Isaacson was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on May 20, 1952.
He went to the Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, where he served as the student body president, Deep Springs College for the Telluride Association Summer Program (TASP), and Harvard University, where he majored in History and Literature and received his degree in 1974.
In addition to being a member of the Harvard Lampoon and a resident of Lowell House at Harvard, Isaacson served as the Signet Society’s president.
He was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, and received a Rhodes scholarship to attend Harvard University and Pembroke College at Oxford.
