Doja Cat, born Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini is an American-based rapper, dancer, and singer. The multitalented artist was born in the city of Los Angeles on the 21st of October, 1995.

Doja made her first appearance in 2014 when she released her Ep titled Purr! after she single “So High”.

The young artist appears to be very versatile in her music as she is not limited to only one genre or mode of delivery.

Doja was born and raised in the city of Los Angeles by her parents; Mr and Mrs. Dlamini.

Her father, Mr Dumisani Dlamini is an African who stems from the Zulu tribe in South Africa. He is an actor by profession, and popularly known for his role as a crocodile in a Broadway musical titled Sarafina.

Her mother on the other hand is an American painter by profession and is of Jewish descent. It is obvious that Doja comes from a family with an artistic background.

After Doja was born, her mother moved together with her from their neighbourhood; Tarzana in Los Angeles to a small town in New York called Rye. After 5 years, her family moved to the city of California, Oak Park, where Doja enrolled on dance classes.

When she was 11 years old the family relocated near the Sherman Oaks neighbourhood in the region of Los Angeles, California.

The family practised Hinduism when they lived at the Sai Anantam Ashram, it was there that Doja lost interest in school and instead got more involved n dance classes.

She started with the Indian Classical dance style popularly known as Bharatanatyam and as she moved away from Ashram she progressed to the breakdance classes and also joined the pop-locking group.

Later on, Doja`s aunt who is a singer started giving her singing lessons and also helped her enter High school to pursue performing arts.

Unfortunately, Doja`s passion for dancing didn’t allow her to complete school as she normal skip classes to perform, she finally dropped out at the age of 16.
