To begin with, the girl with her sister were raised in Menlo Park by their parents, who worked as a therapist and a computer market researcher; unfortunately their parents divorced when Courtney was seven. She was educated at Menlo Atherton High School in Atherton, California and Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley, California. While still at high school, she starred in the Ensemble Theater Company in Mill Valley.

Concerning her professional career, Courtney Thorne Smith became famous after landing the role of Alison Parker in the soap opera “Melrose Place”. Her rivalry with Amanda (portrayed by Heather Locklear) and the flagship couple with Billy (portrayed by Andrew Shue) have made the character of Alison one of the pillars in the series. In 1997, after five years of loyal service portraying the alcoholic victim, Courtney decided to change course, and re-appeared on the screen starring in one of the most popular American series “Ally McBeal” (1997 – 2000), playing Georgia, the wife of Billy and a childhood friend of Ally, respectively working with Gil Bellows and Calista Flockhart, for which with the ensemble cast, Smith won a Screen Actors Guild Award. Her net worth was rising steadily.

The year 2000 was again a turning point in the career of Courtney – she left the series to star in a new comedy for ABC, “According to Jim” with Jim Belushi in the lead role. After successful eight seasons, the series ended in 2009, partly due to the fact that the two main actresses have fallen pregnant. In 2010, Courtney returned to the screen in the popular series “Two and a Half Men”, from the seventh season playing the recurring role of Lyndsey Mackelroy, sustainable small friend of Alan Harper, brother of Charlie Harper. In 2015, the above mentioned series ended.

Talking about her career on the big screen, it should be mentioned that Courtney starred alongside Mariska Hargitay in the feature film “Welcome to 18” (1986) by Terry Carr. Afterwards she starred in the films “Lucas” (1986), “Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise” (1987), “Summer School” (1987) and “Side Out” (1990). The actress voiced Shiho Tsukishima in the animated film “Whisper of the Heart” (1995), and Catwoman in “Batman: New Times” (2005). In addition to this, she landed lead roles in the comedy films co-written and directed by Michael Goldberg “The Lovemaster” (1997), and was directed by Alex Zamm in “Chairman of the Board” (1998). To summarise, all the aforementioned roles on television and in films have added sums to the total size of Courtney Thorne Smith’ net worth.

Finally, in the personal life of the actress, Smith has married twice, firstly to geneticist Andrew Conrad (2000 – 2001), and then in 2007 she married Roger Fishman, with whom she has a son Jacob.

#Quote
1I love kids; I think they are fun and funny.
2I understand that it would be smart, career-wise, to line up something, but it wouldn't be smart for my personal life or my sanity. Some people thrive when they're working. I thrive when I'm hanging out with my friends and doing yoga.
3If it's not working before you get married, marriage isn't going to fix it.
4A lot of women are in a crazy exercise cycle; they're so afraid they'll gain weight if they stop, and it's especially hard when they get pregnant. What they need to realize is that if you're not exercising so much, you don't have to eat so much, and your body adjusts. It sounds so simple, but you really do have to listen to your body.
5I thought, I hate the thought of a 12, 13 or 14 year-old girl seeing a picture of me and thinking she'll do what I did.
6I always want to look like myself - that's key for me. I don't want to look like a different person, I don't want my face frozen.
7One of the strangest things about being an actor is that people you don't know feel that they are allowed to comment on your hair, body, clothes, relationships.
8I hope I will be a calm mother; I do yoga and I meditate, and those should help.
9Well, I used to be a compulsive exerciser, but I'm over that.
10My hope is that if I take good care of my skin and use Botox, I won't have to use anything else.
11There's so many young women today who look so lost. And I feel like, of course they're lost. They have no one around them to give them real, authentic reflection.
12I got out of autobiography because my story is, I was famous, it was hard for me, I got into therapy. I had trouble with food, I got a nutritionist. There's no story there.
13I really have always wanted to be a parent, and when I hit 36 and had just ended a relationship, I remember thinking how much I still wanted it. But I thought I'd adopt.
14To be totally honest, if I could be thinner without it causing a lot of pain and anxiety in my life, I would be. But today the reality is my life is more important to me than my weight - and thank God for that.
15You know, true love really matters, friends really matter, family really matters. Being responsible and disciplined and healthy really matters.
16You need to eat normally and healthfully, and you need to exercise. I'm so passionate about this because I think people spend their lives not happy in their bodies.
17Never say never. I always want to look like myself - that's key for me. I don't want to look like a different person, I don't want my face frozen.
18It's incredibly difficult to keep a healthy body image in this business.
